Attorney Marivette Gonzalez Rivera
Marivette González Rivera is an experienced family law attorney in Central Florida as well as a State of Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator. Attorney Gonzalez also handles collaborative law cases involving high asset clients.
As an attorney she knows that each case has its unique set of circumstances and needs to be handled with its very own customized approach focusing on its distinct characteristics. Her goal is to obtain justice and she is passionate about helping people through difficult and sensitive legal matters.
She is an undergraduate of Rutgers University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice, Criminology Certification and minors in Sociology and Spanish.
Upon graduating from Rutgers University in New Jersey, she moved to Florida where she became the Senior/High Risk Probation Officer for Seminole County. As a senior probation officer she was in charge of the high risk offenders and Domestic Violence cases. She was appointed to various criminal task forces such as the Domestic Violence Task Force and the Sexual Offender Response Team S.O.R.T. She also conducted a high risk offender pilot program for Seminole County in collaboration with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. She was one of the first Officers to help implement the Global Positioning Systems (GPS) for offenders in 2000. Hence, she obtained first-hand knowledge of the various aspects of the criminal justice system. She received numerous honors, awards, and recognitions as Senior High Risk Probation Officer.
Subsequently, Marivette González Rivera attended Florida A&M University, College of Law, where she received the Holly Marie Stutz scholarship for outstanding academic qualifications and commitment to public interest law. While in law school, she worked in the Homelessness Clinic assisting clients with family law and landlord/tenant matters. In addition, she provided legal assistance to small non-profit businesses as the lead intern in the pro bono Community Economic Clinic. After successfully completing law school and passing the Florida State Bar Examination she served at the Office of the Public Defender in the Ninth Circuit in Orange County Florida, where she represented hundreds of people in various criminal law matters and litigated on behalf of her client’s to ensure that their defense was heard.
Marivette González Rivera has distinguished herself in Orlando’s vibrant leadership community as a current Board of Directors Member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando (HCCMO) and as former Chair of the Ambassadors. She has also served on the Board of the Young Fathers of Central Florida addressing fathers’ rights in family law matters. She was featured in the 2016 Vision Magazine as One of the 25 Influential Hispanics in Central Florida based on professional contributions, accomplishments, and demonstrated leadership and recognized by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer.
Marivette González Rivera has also been featured as a guest commentator on Telemundo and on Orange County Television, co-hosted two Bright House Cable feature community reports on “Spousal Abuse” with CEO, Carol Wick of Harbor House of Central Florida. She continues to be a regular commentator and host for Speak Out TV’s Community Advocacy Programming on issues affecting the Hispanic community, co-hosted “I Need to Know Radio Show” to educate the public on family law, hosted the “2012 Knowledge is Power Seminar” to educate Women on their legal rights, and was one of the keynote speakers at the 2013, 2014, 2018, and 2019 Annual National Teen & Young Fathers Conference. She has been featured in the Orlando Style Magazine Who’s Who Spotlight on the Law issue in 2018 featuring Central Florida’s most respected attorneys of distinction.
