Collaborative Divorce

A private, respectful alternative to courtroom litigation that gives you greater control over the outcome.

For individuals who value privacy, discretion, and greater control over the divorce process, Collaborative Divorce offers an alternative to traditional courtroom litigation.

The confidential nature of the Collaborative Law Process can be particularly valuable for business owners, professionals, executives, and families with significant or complex assets who want to address sensitive financial and personal matters outside the public courtroom setting. Each spouse is represented by a collaboratively trained attorney, with neutral financial and mental health professionals involved when appropriate.

At The MGR Law Firm, we use the collaborative process to help clients address equitable distribution (property division), business and investment interests, complex assets, support, parenting matters, and other sensitive issues through informed negotiation and creative problem-solving. The goal is to preserve privacy, reduce unnecessary conflict, and give you greater control over the decisions that will shape your family and financial future.

Custody - Parental Rights & Time-Sharing

Comprehensive parenting plans that protect your parental rights while keeping your child's best interests at the center.

In Florida, parenting matters are addressed through time-sharing and parental responsibility, rather than traditional concepts of custody. Time-sharing determines when a child spends time with each parent, while parental responsibility addresses how parents make important decisions affecting their child.

At The MGR Law Firm, we help parents develop comprehensive parenting plans that address regular schedules, holidays, vacations, travel, education, healthcare, communication, and other important aspects of raising their children. Whether parenting issues are resolved through agreement, mediation, the Collaborative Law Process, or litigation, we advocate for solutions that protect your parental rights while keeping the best interests of your child at the center of the process.

Paternity - Establishment of Father's Rights

Establishing legal parentage and clear court orders that bring structure and certainty for mothers, fathers, and children.

Establishing paternity creates the legal foundation for defining a father’s rights and responsibilities and can be essential to addressing parental responsibility, time-sharing, parenting plans, and child support.

At The MGR Law Firm, we represent both mothers and fathers in Florida paternity matters, helping establish legal parentage and obtain clear court orders that provide structure and certainty for the family. We guide clients through issues involving parental responsibility, time-sharing schedules, decision-making, child support, and comprehensive parenting plans, with a focus on developing arrangements that serve the child’s best interests and reflect the family’s unique circumstances.

Child Support

Establishing, modifying, and enforcing support so your child's financial needs are fairly met under Florida law.

Child support is an important part of ensuring that a child’s financial needs are met while establishing fair and appropriate responsibilities between parents. Florida child support determinations involve more than simply comparing incomes and may require careful consideration of each parent’s income, the time-sharing arrangement, health insurance, childcare expenses, and other factors recognized under Florida law.

At The MGR Law Firm, we represent parents in establishing, modifying, and enforcing child support obligations, including matters involving complex income, self-employment, business ownership, bonuses, commissions, and other financial considerations. We work to ensure that the financial information is carefully evaluated and that the child support determination reflects the circumstances of the family and the requirements of Florida law.

Relocation

Advising parents who seek to relocate — and those opposing a move — with a focus on the child's best interests.

“Relocation” means a change in the location of the principal residence of a parent or other person from his or her principal place of residence at the time of the last order establishing or modifying time-sharing, or at the time of filing the pending action to establish or modify time-sharing. The change of location must be at least 50 miles from that residence, and for at least 60 consecutive days not including a temporary absence from the principal residence for purposes of vacation, education, or the provision of health care for the child. Fla. Stat. § 61.13001 (2026)

At The MGR Law Firm, we advise parents seeking to relocate and those opposing a move, preparing the required notices, agreements, or court filings and presenting evidence to support a solution that serves the child’s best interests. Whether relocation is resolved by agreement or requires court intervention, we advocate for our clients’ parental rights while keeping the child’s best interests at the center of the matter.

Balanced Asset Division Still Life.png

Equitable Distribution - Division of Assets & Liabilities

Identifying, valuing, and protecting assets — from real estate and retirement accounts to businesses and complex holdings.

Dividing property in a Florida divorce requires more than simply determining who gets what. Equitable distribution involves identifying, classifying, valuing, and distributing marital assets and liabilities, while also determining whether certain property is marital, nonmarital, or contains both components.

At The MGR Law Firm, we represent clients in property division matters involving real estate, retirement and investment accounts, businesses, professional practices, closely held companies, debt, and other significant assets.

High-asset divorces can present additional complexity, particularly when business valuation, tracing of nonmarital assets, commingled property, complex compensation, or multiple income-producing assets are involved. We have represented business owners, professionals, and individuals with substantial or complex financial interests, working with financial and valuation professionals when appropriate to identify and protect the assets at stake and pursue an equitable resolution.

Post-Judgment Modifications by Agreement

When life changes and both parties agree, we formalize updated terms and guide them through court approval.

Life changes, and sometimes the terms of a prior family law judgment need to change with it. When both parties agree to modify certain terms, The MGR Law Firm can help formalize the agreement and guide you through the process of updating the existing court order when permitted under Florida law.

Agreed modifications may involve parenting plans, time-sharing, child support, alimony, or other modifiable provisions, depending on the circumstances. We help ensure that the agreed terms are clearly documented, legally appropriate, and properly submitted for court approval when required, allowing families to address changed circumstances without creating unnecessary conflict.

Pre-Divorce Planning

Understand your rights, organize your finances, and build a strategy before the formal process begins.

The decisions you make before filing for divorce can have a significant impact on what happens next. Pre-divorce planning gives you an opportunity to understand your rights, obligations, financial circumstances, and legal options before beginning the formal divorce process.

At The MGR Law Firm, we help clients evaluate their financial picture, identify and organize important documents, consider potential issues involving equitable distribution (property division), alimony, child support, parental responsibility, and time-sharing, and develop a strategy for moving forward. Thoughtful preparation can help reduce surprises, identify potential concerns early, protect your financial interests, and allow you to approach the divorce process with greater clarity, confidence, and a plan.

Bundled Services

Focused, limited-scope legal help for a specific issue or stage of your case, when appropriate.

Not every family law matter requires full-service representation.

In appropriate circumstances, The MGR Law Firm offers bundled legal services designed to provide focused legal assistance for a specific issue or stage of your case.  Depending on your needs, services may include the preparation or review of agreements and parenting plans, legal guidance on a particular family law issue, or attorney representation during mediation.

Bundled services are offered only when appropriate for the circumstances of the matter, and an initial evaluation is required to determine whether limited-scope representation is a suitable option for you. Schedule a call to learn more about our bundled services and whether they may be appropriate for your situation.
