Marivette González Rivera is a seasoned family law attorney and mediator with over a decade of experience helping families navigate complex legal matters with clarity, compassion, and integrity. She is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator, trained in Interdisciplinary Collaborative Law, and licensed to practice in both Florida and Colorado.
As the founder of The MGR Law Firm, Marivette has helped hundreds of families—mothers, fathers, business owners, and individuals from all backgrounds—resolve legal issues such as divorce, parenting plans, paternity, and post-judgment modifications. She is deeply committed to guiding clients through non-adversarial, trauma-informed processes that protect the emotional and financial well-being of families and children.
Marivette understands firsthand how overwhelming family transitions can be. As someone who has gone through divorce herself, she relates to the financial, emotional, and relational concerns her clients face. She listens with empathy and provides both personal and professional guidance to support her clients' goals.
Her early legal career includes service as a public defender in the Ninth Judicial Circuit in Orange County, Florida, where she represented hundreds of individuals in a variety of criminal law matters often being the voice for those who felt unheard. Prior to that, she was a senior probation officer in Seminole County, where she she spearheaded the implementation of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) tracking for offenders in collaboration with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. She was appointed to criminal task forces including the Domestic Violence Task Force and the Sexual Offender Response Team (S.O.R.T.), emerging as a respected leader in the criminal justice system. These roles shaped her deep commitment to justice, safety, and community engagement.
Marivette earned her undergraduate degree in Administration of Justice from Rutgers University in New Jersey, with a certification in Criminology and minors in Sociology and Spanish. She later earned her Juris Doctor from Florida A&M University College of Law, where she was awarded the prestigious Holly Marie Stutz Scholarship for her academic excellence and dedication to public interest law.
A respected voice in the legal community, Marivette has held leadership positions with the Puerto Rican Bar Association of Florida, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando, and the Central Florida Family Law American Inn of Court. She is also a frequent speaker and mentor, known for delivering empowering keynotes that inspire others to overcome challenges and grow.
Marivette’s work has been recognized with numerous awards, including 'Attorney of the Year' by Orlando Style Magazine and '25 Most Influential Hispanics in Central Florida' by Vision Magazine. She has served as a legal commentator for Univision, Telemundo, and Orange County TV.
When she's not advocating for clients, Marivette enjoys spending time with her family, educating the community about family law, and using her voice to uplift others through public speaking and mentorship.
